Leaving Kahului airport in the rear view mirror and driving up the hill past the Pukalani Superette and the purple Jacaranda trees, beyond the inimitable history of Morihara's store, and passing the incredible views from Rice park lies some of the most beautiful and verdant landscapes on the planet. This is the Kula district of Maui meaning "open country". Home to many food-to-table local family farms, cattle ranches, farmers markets and cozy inns, this bucolic place of incredible beauty and aloha has an elevation between 2000 and 7000 feet which makes it cool all year round especially in winter. If you've never thought of Hawai'i as somewhere you would need a fireplace, you need to think again.

Incredibly talented people have been drawn to Maui forever; from the Polynesian canoe paddlers who traveled thousands of miles from the Marquesas over open Moana with nothing but their innate knowledge of the stars and the ocean, to modern day artists, seekers, and community minded activists whose vision and passion for a better world draw them to these emerald islands in the sea.

One such artist with that vision and passion is Maui architect Linda Lange whose designs are elegantly sprinkled around Maui from Launiopoko to Makawao to Haiku. Her design aesthetic is sought after by many. We've known her for decades and have had the pleasure to photograph some of her "best" designs which is a difficult call because they are all excellent. The particular abode in this series of images is upcountry Maui and incorporates the upcountry rural ranch vibe at its best along with a touch of glam.

If you have an architectural or interior design project on Maui that needs professional photography for your marketing or portfolio, give us a call and we will create imagery like this, the type of imagery you need to stand out in a competitive market.
